There are two types of treatments to help the texture, movement, appearance and colour of scars:
Scar Rejuvenation
This specialist technique uses medical grade needling and products to cause trauma to the scar area and force the scar to repair itself. This can help flatten the scar, reduce any restrictions or tightness and also help bring back the colour.
Scar Micropigmentation
We use a digital machine with specialist needles to deposit medical grade pigments into the scar area and help blend with the skin colour. This is a temporary treatment and the skin coloured pigments can last up to 6 months.
We will always begin with a scar rejuvenation treatment to allow the skin to repair itself again and see how it reacts to healing.
Scar Camouflage is a life changing treatment for most scars including:
Burns
Acne scars
Stretch marks
Surgical scars including linear, tummy tuck, facelift and c-section scars
Breast surgery scars
Self harm and trauma scars
Hair transplant scars
Accident scars
Skin graft scars
Facial scars (cleft lip and palate)
Not all scars are suitable for scar camouflage treatments:
Scars that are not fully healed: A scar must be at least 12 months old and not pink, red or purple in colour as your body may still be repairing itself.
Keloid & True Hypertrophic Scars: Scars that are thick, raised and red/pink scars.
Dark or Hyperpigmentated Scars: A scar that is significantly darker that the surrounding skin can pose a challenge and risk to treat. Those with darker skin tones - Fitzpatrick 4, 5 & 6 are more risk to producing dark areas of skin as melanin levels are higher/more active melonacytes.
Sunken/Uneven texture: Sunken scars or those with uneven texture can pose a challenge to treat and the ink pigments may not look natural on the area.

For Scar Rejuvenation, the number of treatments will depend on the type of scar, the size of the area being treated as well as how your body responds to treatment.
Typically 2-4 treatments are required in order to see improvement.
For Scar Micropigmentation, colour is only added once the scar is healed and more even in surface texture and the number of sessions will depend on the size of the area being treatment and how your body responds to the treatment.
Typically 1 to 2 treatments are required in order to see improvement and this can last up to 6 months.
Please note that other factors could include the location of the scar, health of the skin, skin type, lifestyle, medication and adhering to the aftercare.
You can carry on with most of your daily activities as long as you avoid any heat treatments such as sun beds, saunas, hot baths, swimming and keep the area clean and dry.
The area will be slightly inflamed, red and tender for a couple of days and aftercare will be provided to enable you to take care of the treatment area with ease.
Healing time is completely dependant on the type of scar and where it is located on the body, age, lifestyle, medication and skin type and condition.
We will allow at 6 to 8 weeks between each treatment to allow for the scar to fully repair itself before another treatment.
There will be a small level of discomfort, however this will vary for person to person. You will be numbed before and during the procedure to minimise the pain and help you feel at ease.
Aftercare will be discussed at your treatment on how to care for your treatment area properly and you will also an aftercare guide too.
It is really important to take good care of your new treatment as poor aftercare could lead to infection, preventing the area from healing properly and loss of ink pigments if you have had colour on your scar area.
Scar Rejuventation also know as 'medical needling' is a more advanced technique which uses carefully selected medical grade needles to go at a greater and controlled dermal depth to help rebuild the scar or stretch mark structure and primarily targets the scar itself, not the skin around it.
Yes, as we are trying to match the colour pigments to your skin colour, if you use sun beds, tanning creams or go in the sun before or after a treatment, the scar camouflage will not match your skin tones.
It is also important to use SPF50 on the scar area once fully healed, as this will prevent the scar fading or changing colour.
